Job summary

Millennium Space Systems, a Boeing company, is seeking an Optical Systems Engineer to lead modeling and validation of EO/IR sensors and laser payloads on space vehicles. You will interface with payload teams and vehicle programs, ensuring mission performance and test readiness across ground and on-orbit contexts.

The role requires a strong background in spaceborne optical hardware, and a US citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree.
• 14+ years industry experience in optical engineering (advanced degrees may supplement years of experience).
• Experience with performance/phenomenology/modeling of space-based EO sensors (3 years).
• US Citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate mission and unit level requirements for EO/IR sensors, lasers, and vehicle interfaces.
• Design and implement modeling and simulation of optical systems.
• Execute unit and system tests on ground and on-orbit to verify performance.
• Manage supplier and partner performance.
• Coordinate work statements, budget, and schedule; measure technical performance.
• Support large-scale new business proposals.
