Job summary

RTX, through its Pratt & Whitney division, is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support the PW2000 and PW4000 engine fleets. You will resolve hot section and controls issues, work with airline customers, MRO facilities, and cross-functional teams to ensure safe, reliable engine operation.

You will travel up to 10% domestically and internationally, with on-site assignments and a focus on troubleshooting and customer support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 5+ years of relevant aerospace experience or Advanced degree with 3+ years of experience
• Experience supporting aerospace systems, turbine engine hardware, or engine components in operational environments
• Demonstrated success in technical troubleshooting, customer support, and leading technical teams or projects

Responsibilities

• Work with global airline customers, MRO facilities, and field service reps to guide on hot section and controls systems and troubleshoot issues
• Collaborate with engineering and program teams to resolve technical issues and improve fleet health
• Lead engine event investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
• Develop and communicate engineering authorizations and maintenance data for on-wing and engine shop maintenance
• Represent Pratt & Whitney in customer-facing engagements during meetings and reviews
• Identify recurring field issues and propose solutions to improve time on wing
• Maintain on-call availability for urgent customer and operational issues, including nights/weekends/holidays

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join the Operational Commercial Engines Customer Technical Services team, supporting the global PW2000 and PW4000 engine fleet. In this role, you will resolve complex technical issues related to hot section and controls hardware while partnering with customers, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facilities, and cross-functional engineering teams. Your work will directly contribute to engine safety, fleet reliability, operational performance, and reduced maintenance burden for our customers by improving key metrics such as dispatch reliability, in-flight shutdown rates, unscheduled engine removals, and shop turnaround time.

Position role type: Onsite.

What You Will Do:

• Work directly with global airline customers, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities, and Pratt & Whitney Field Service Representatives (FSR), providing guidance on hot section and controls systems, operational troubleshooting, engine manual interpretation, service bulletin implementation, and urgent Aircraft-On-Ground events to ensure safe and reliable engine operation.
• Partner across Pratt & Whitney engineering and program organizations-including Component Integrated Product Teams, Product Safety, Certification & Validation, Aftermarket & Sustainment Engineering, Fleet Management Programs, Chief Engineers, Performance Analysis, and airframe manufacturers-to resolve technical issues, monitor fleet health, implement engineering changes, and enhance customer satisfaction.
• Lead engine event investigations to identify root cause, implement corrective actions, resolve operational challenges, and provide guidance to the operators.
• Develop, authorize, and communicate engineering authorizations (EA's), Special Instructions (SI's), and other documents for on-wing and engine shop maintenance data for Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Engine Manual (EM), Clean, Inspect and Repair (CIR), and Maintenance Planning Guide (MPG) in support of airline customers.
• Represent Pratt & Whitney in customer-facing engagements by participating in technical discussions during airline meetings, conferences, customer councils, and operational reviews.
• Identify recurring field issues and propose innovative solutions to enhance time on wing.
• Schedule: Support on-call schedule for potential urgent customer and operational issues, ensuring timely response during occasional nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Travel Requirement: Up to 10%, Domestic and International.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced degree and 3 years of prior relevant experience. Relevant experience: Supporting aerospace systems, turbine engine hardware, or engine component systems in an operational environment; demonstrated success in technical troubleshooting, customer support, cross-functional engineering collaboration, and leading technical teams or projects to resolution.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Working knowledge of gas turbine hot section hardware and control systems
• Experience supporting Pratt & Whitney commercial engines, with knowledge of the PW2000 and/or PW4000 engine families preferred.
