Job summary

Bloom Engineering, a Wabtec Company, is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support customers across the United States. You will provide onsite technical support for commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of industrial combustion and heating systems.

The role requires an ABET-accredited technical degree, English fluency, and the ability to travel up to 80% (primarily in the US). Proximity to Pittsburgh for onboarding is preferred for new hires with limited experience.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering technology or applied sciences from ABET-accredited program.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Chemical, or equivalent) preferred.
• For candidates with less than 4 years of applicable experience, proximity to Pittsburgh HQ is required for onboarding and training.
• Fluency in English; ability to write reports in English.
• OSHA 10-Hour and NFPA 70E safety training (or ability to obtain).
• Valid driver's license and valid passport or ability to obtain.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 80% of the time (90+% in the US).

Responsibilities

• Commission, troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize industrial combustion systems across the United States and occasionally internationally.
• Investigate system-wide issues and perform root cause analysis on failed equipment.
• Review, adjust, and support PID loop programming in single- and multi-loop control systems.
• Utilize electronic test equipment (multimeters, transmitters, analyzers) to interpret system performance.
• Interface with plant operators, engineers, maintenance teams, and management.
• Provide recommendations to improve performance, reliability, efficiency, and safety.
• Collaborate with US-based sales, engineering, and project management teams to resolve challenges.
• Prepare detailed service reports, timesheets, and technical documents after each field assignment.
• Ensure compliance with Bloom Engineering safety standards and customer site regulations.
