Job summary

UNITED GRINDING North America seeks a field service professional to perform on-site repairs and maintenance on CNC machinery. You will troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, read drawings and schematics, and communicate effectively with customers and internal teams.

The role emphasizes independent problem solving, strong analytical skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Extensive travel and some overtime are expected as part of the position.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or higher with 1–3 years in an engineering-related field or equivalent
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
• Understanding of machine electrical and mechanical systems with debugging ability
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
• Experience in fast-paced environments with multitasking and shifting priorities
• Ability to maintain confidentiality

Responsibilities

• Machine maintenance and repair accounts for ~85% of duties; perform on-site repairs, troubleshoot, and address technical issues independently
• Inspect malfunctioning or damaged equipment to determine problem scope
• Investigate and resolve customer reports of minor issues
• With guidance from senior Field Service Engineers, recommend repairs, replacements or corrective actions
• Record maintenance data and communicate trends to improve processes
• Coordinate resolutions with applications engineering, spare parts, and other teams to expedite repairs
• Provide clear communication between the customer and the company

Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Basic to intermediate knowledge and experience in CNC machine electronics, mechanics or operations and related engineering concepts (general repair, debugging, preventive maintenance, routine customer issues resolution). With readily available assistance this incumbent:

Machine Maintenance and Repair 85%

• Regularly works independently of othersto handle on-site machine repairs of a less complex nature, troubleshooting and other technical issues
• Inspect malfunctioning or damaged product to determine nature and scope of problem
• Investigates and resolves customer reports of less major significance
• With consultation of higher level Field Service Engineers, recommends repair, replacements, or other corrective actions

Record Maintenance/Communication 15%

• Maintains records of performance reports; analyzes reports of technical problems to provide input on trends; affecting future design, production, service, and maintenance processes
• Coordinates problem resolutions with applications engineering, spare parts team members and other personnel to expedite repairs
• Provides communication between the customer and the company

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience in Related Field, Skills, etc.):

• High School diploma and completion of high school engineering program, Associates or Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline with one to three years of experience or; equivalent combination of education and experience/training
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
• Understanding of the machines’ electrical and mechanical systems with the ability to debug
• Possess excellent analytical, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Experience in a fast-paced environment, and ability to multitask while adapting to shifting priorities
• Proven ability to maintain confidential information

Preferred Qualifications (Certificates, Training, Licenses, and Experience):

• Knowledge and experience of other product line brands

Other (Supervisory Responsibilities, Physical Demands, Travel):

• This position requires extensive daily and overnight travel 85%
• Daily overtime and weekend work required on a regular, as-needed basis
• Bends, stoops and crouches on a regular basis to repair or make adjustments on machinery
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs with or without the assistance of crane operation
• This position has no supervisory responsibilities
