Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific is hiring a Field Service Engineer I to support customers across multiple U.S. territories. You will install, calibrate, and maintain analytical instruments, troubleshoot complex issues, and train customers on operation and maintenance.

The role requires mechanical and electrical aptitude, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to travel regionally, with up to 80% travel. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Physics, Electronics, Instrumentation, or related field.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, optical, or software systems preferred.
  • Experience with field service or customer-facing technical roles is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site installation and commissioning of Thermo Scientific instruments.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and calibration to ensure reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, optical, and software issues.
  • Diagnose performance problems and determine corrective actions.
  • Provide technical support to customers and field staff.
  • Travel to customer locations and complete service documentation promptly.
  • Provide basic customer training on instrument operation and maintenance.
