Job summary

Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our team and provide service and support for analytical instrumentation. This role involves repairing, maintaining, installing, troubleshooting, and verifying performance on GC, GCMS, LC, and LCMS systems, with travel up to 80% including overnight trips.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• At least four years of experience repairing analytical instrumentation, including GC, GCMS, LC, LCMS, HPLC, AA, or similar instruments.
• Strong technical knowledge and understanding of these technologies.
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer relations skills.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision in a field-based service role.
• Willingness and ability to travel at least 80%, including frequent overnight travel and flights between regions.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily repair, maintenance, installation, and performance verification support for assigned products.
• Support analytical instrumentation, primarily including GC, GCMS, LC, and LCMS systems.
• Handle field service calls with limited supervision across the assigned regional territory.
• Travel by company vehicle for local service calls and by air as needed for regional support.
• Conduct in-house bench repairs as needed, including support for demo equipment and instruments returned from customers.
• Offer technical support by phone to customers and field personnel regarding repairs, maintenance, troubleshooting, and installations.
• Maintain strong customer communication while completing service work in a timely and professional manner.
