Job summary

SUSS in Houston, TX, seeks a field service engineer to install and modify equipment at customer sites, review performance reports, and inspect equipment to determine issues. You will analyze findings to recommend repairs, coordinate with engineering and service teams, and provide on-site technical support.

The role requires OSHA certification, a valid driver's license, and the ability to travel up to 75% of the time, standing for 4–8 hours daily at customer facilities.

Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree related to the technical skills required for the job.
  • AA degree related to the technical skills required plus a minimum of 5 years directly related experience and/or training.
  • 10+ years directly related experience and/or training in lieu of education.
  • Ability to stand for four to eight hours per day at customer facilities.
  • OSHA Safety certificates.
  • Current driver's license.
  • Willingness to travel 75% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Install new or modified equipment at customer's facility to ensure full functionality according to specifications
  • Review performance reports and documentation from customers and field representatives, and inspect malfunctioning or damaged product to determine nature and scope of problem
  • Analyze review and inspection findings to determine source of problem, and recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective action
  • Coordinate problem resolution with engineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairs
  • Provide on-site technical assistance to help troubleshoot and repair equipment
  • Maintain records of performance reports
  • Analyze reports of technical problems to determine trends affecting future design, production, service, and maintenance processes, and recommends modifications to eliminate future problems
  • Provide a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer
  • Develop and conducts training on the safe operations of the equipment and demonstrates skills to trainees, including both team members and customers

Education

Four-year college degree related to technical skills
AA degree related to technical skills + 5+ years experience
10+ years experience in lieu of education

  • Must have the ability to stand for four to eight hours per day, while inspecting or performing work on equipment at customer's facilities
  • OSHA Safety certificates
  • Current driver's license
  • Must have the ability to travel by car and/or airplane to customer or company worksites on a frequent basis, as needed
  • Must be available and willing to travel 75% of the time
