Job Summary

Field Service Engineer (FSE) I - responsible for ensuring that Rapiscan equipment users are satisfied with performance. Requires basic troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, independent thinking, and ability to work with minimal instruction. Work may exceed 8 hours and include weekends. Typical tasks: Emergency Service, Contract Service, New Product Support, Maintenance, and Customer Training.

Responsibilities
  • Perform service and maintenance for client systems as directed by Field Service Managers.
  • Follow contract requirements for response time, reporting, and customer management.
  • Communicate with customers during system visits to ensure work aligns with Rapiscan business objectives.
  • Coordinate with Customer Service Coordinators to ensure timely delivery of parts and materials.
  • Maintain and carry a Field Service Tool Set.
  • Submit timely reports of labor, expenses, and materials to support contract and company policy.
  • Ensure proper distribution and storage of work orders, site acceptance tests, radiation survey documentation, and other required documents.
  • Adhere to company safety program requirements, report accidents, and complete accident reports when required.
  • Lead, coordinate, and manage all work at the system location; be prepared for emergencies.
  • Use CRM reporting and mobile devices to update management and communicate customer concerns.
  • Carry company-provided cell phone and laptop, and be on call as required.
  • Maintain control of tools, meters, and test equipment; manage timely return of calibration-required equipment.
  • Maintain a safe/clean work environment and follow product workmanship procedures.
  • Complete all training courses within a timely manner with passing grades.
  • Uphold core values and demonstrate behavior consistent with the Code of Ethics and Conduct.
  • Report quality problems or defects to relevant managers or senior management.
  • Accept modifications or new duties to meet business needs.
Required Qualifications
  • A.S. in Electronic Technology or Engineering with Mechanical Engineering experience or comparable technical degree; military training may substitute.
  • Basic knowledge of analog, digital, and mechanical systems.
  • 3 years experience in a field service environment; x‑ray industry highly desired.
  • Networking hardware and software literacy.
  • Database management and programming, software/firmware protocols.
  • Ability to manage both technical and administrative functions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with Oracle workflow management systems or similar ERP systems.
  • Independent worker who makes logical decisions within position parameters.
  • Available for on‑call rotation and off‑hour work as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, bend, and work outside in inclement weather.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel up to 300 miles roundtrip.
Travel Requirements
  • Plan and arrange travel accommodations within company guidelines.
  • Adapt to sudden schedule changes and customer requirements.
  • Maintain and submit expense receipts while in the field.
  • Obtain site passes, clearances, and visas as needed to perform duties.
  • Maintain a valid passport and company‑required credit card.
  • Comply with company travel policy and pass background checks.
Physical Requirements

The following physical abilities are required to perform essential functions: walk 20–25% of the time, stand 35–40%, stoop 20–25%, squat 15–20%, kneel 35–40%, reach 15–20%, bend 10–15%, sit 85–90%, climb [bullet removed], lift 25–50 lbs.
