Responsibilities

Job Description
Position Summary and Responsibilities
  • As the Field Service Engineer, you will travel overnight up to 75% of the time to customer industrial sites to work on continuous emission monitoring system (CEMS) equipment including sample lines, probes and sample conditioning systems, instruments and calibration gas delivery systems. Instruments are not limited to but will include: Opacity, NOx, SO2, CO, CO2, O2, NH3, flow rate, Mercury and Particulate.

  • Must be able to climb ladders, stairs and other means to reach stack platform where instruments and probes are located; climb could be as little as 25' and as high as 150'.

  • Must have excellent customer interaction skills to maintain great working relationship especially when instruments need emergency repair and you are their repair hero.

  • Background and drug testing likely required for site entry safety requirements.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, videos, and documents for new system startup, certifications, and systems preventive maintenance.

  • Must also provide detail documentation (write-up) reports of work performed including technical data determined through testing instrumentation.

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Dynamics CRM highly desired.

Qualifications
  • A qualified candidate will have an Associate's degree (AA/AS.), certificate or equivalent from two-year college or technical school;

  • At least 3-5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to speak effectively before small groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • Ability to calculate numbers and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • 3-5 years' experience working on instrumentation, preference for experience with opacity, NOx, SO2, CO, CO2, O2, NH3, flow rate, Mercury and Particulate instruments. Working knowledge of test equipment, repairs and troubleshooting skills.

Physical and Mental Abilities
  • While performing the duties of this position, the technician is required to walk, stand, sit, and reach out with arms and hands to handle equipment.

  • Good eyesight and hearing needed to perform job duties.

  • Must be in good physical condition and able to lift more than 50 lbs., climb stairs and ladders and not be afraid of heights.

  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Requires clear vision and ability to identify and distinguish colors.

  • Employee must be able to work around moving mechanical parts in a moderate weather and humidity, work in high precarious places and around fumes or airborne particles with exposure to loud noises, risk of electrical shock and vibration.
