Job summary

Teledyne Gas & Flame Detector seeks a skilled field service technician to provide repair, installation, training, and on-site support for Teledyne products at customer locations in the United States. This role includes depot and field repair, calibration, and feedback to engineering for product improvements.

The candidate should have strong troubleshooting skills, the ability to read electrical schematics and drawings, and be willing to travel about 10% overnight to customer sites.

Qualifications

• Vocational or Technical Certificate, or college degree (Associates Degree) in related or specialized field; 5+ years of experience, and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Able to interpret complex electromechanical blueprints, schematics, drawings and work instructions.
• Experience in depot or field repair, installations and calibrations.

Responsibilities

• Depot repair and field repair of Teledyne Gas & Flame Detector units.
• Perform installations, preventative maintenance, and calibrations.
• Provide on-site support, training, and troubleshooting for customers.
• Generate service estimates, process service orders, and assist with project sales orders.
• Collaborate with engineering and production for product improvements.
• Travel to customer sites and manage remote support as needed.

Job Description Summary Provide technical support, in-house and on-site repair, installation, training for customers, field service for all Teledyne Gas & Flame Detector Products. Provide feedback to engineering and production for products improvements. Service customers with service activities including service estimates, troubleshooting, service orders, project sales orders, scheduling information. Provide application support for products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

REPAIR DUTIES

• Depot repair, field repair, perform installations, and preventative maintenance/calibrations
• Excellent technical and troubleshooting skills
• Interpret and work from complex electromechanical blueprints, schematics, drawings and work instructions.
• Perform set-up and analytical tests on any Teledyne Gas & Flame Detector units
• Interpret and record analytical data from testing
• Installation of instrumentation in various environments, including, but not limited to manufacturing facilities
• Coordinate with on-site contractors and facility managers to ensure proper system installation
• Uses and maintains manufacturing and test equipment.

TECH SUPPORT DUTIES

• Answer basic application and detailed service-related questions for Teledyne Gas & Flame Detector units remotely.
• Enter Cases from customer phone calls and email inquiries
• Provide customers with written quotation on parts/service
• Ability to work with and manage parts via the software that manages Teledyne’s financials and supply chain.
• Initiate and/or process return authorization for incorrect or defective material ordered, shipped or received.
• Schedule and complete installation, troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance at customer site
• Excellent Remote technical and troubleshooting skills
• Patiently explain complex technical systems to individuals and groups in person and remotely.
• Creates and edits user manuals, checklists, troubleshooting guides, etc.
• Ability to effectively interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, videos, and documents for new system startup, certifications, and systems maintenance.
• Responsible for achieving technical supports quality and productivity measurements
• Participate actively in the quality process including [project team involvement, problem solving, corrective and preventative actions and recommending solutions to enhance and improve the quality of departmental and/or company-wide business activities.

TRAVEL

• An average of 10% overnight travel expected
• Domestic and International with an emphasis on domestic travel
• Travel on short notice required

GENERAL

• Must be self-motivated, display an enthusiastic attitude and initiative and a willingness to be flexible.
• Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team
• lift 35-55lbs if needed.
