Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking a Field Service Electronics Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and test SEL products at customer sites in our Mobile Product Hospital team in West Lafayette, IN. You will work with a team of technicians and engineers to diagnose root causes of complex problems, travel up to 75%, and support customers with hands-on electronics lab work.

A two-year electronics degree or equivalent is preferred, with strong analog/digital/microprocessor

Responsibilities

  • Test, repair, convert, and troubleshoot problems of high complexity to the component level on SEL products.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge in SEL processes and products to ensure product quality and integrity.
  • Provide basic troubleshooting training to junior department personnel.
  • Partner with other divisions to satisfy the needs of our customers.

As a Field Service Electronics Technician, you'll troubleshoot, repair, and test repairs at customer sites in our Mobile Product Hospital team. You’ll work alongside other technicians and engineers to get to root cause of complex problems while instilling trust with our customers!

Typical day responsibilities
  • Test, repair, convert, and troubleshoot problems of high complexity to the component level on SEL products.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge in SEL processes and products to ensure product quality and integrity.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years experience in electronic design, manufacturing, or testing.
  • Working knowledge of structured programming.

Physical Requirements
  • Lift, push, pull and maneuver up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 35 pounds occasionally.
  • Sit and stand for at least 8 hours.
  • Vision correctable to 20/30 or better.
  • Ability to differentiate color.
  • Use of computer keyboard devices.
  • Reach, bend, and twist.

Pay Range Data
  • Field Service Electronics Technician I $32.88 – $48.60 per hour.
  • Field Service Electronics Technician II $35.83 – $52.94 per hour.
  • Electronics Technician III $40.50 – $59.85 per hour.
