Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in heavy duty truck/engine repairs and installation required.
  • Valid driver's license; CDL and DOT medical card mandatory for driving.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsible for troubleshooting and diagnosing complaints with minimal assistance.
Responsible for the repair and installation of truck/engine equipment.
Responsible for the completion of jobs assigned within the departmental established time frame.
Responsible for performing assigned jobs and maintaining a level of 98% to 100% return – free work.
Responsible for the pickup and delivery of service related items and/or customer vehicles.
Responsible for reporting any problems and/or concerns within the service environment to the Service Manager and/or Assistant Service Manager.
Responsible for assisting with inspections on equipment and in the work area.
Responsible for attending training classes as required. Study shop/service materials and manuals as they relate to your job.
Responsible for time management of his/her own schedule and the scheduling relative to field service customers.
Responsible for keeping and maintaining working parts inventory on field trucks and restocking the trucks as needed. Trucks must be stocked in order to handle normal work requests.
Responsible for properly monitoring and reporting their time with customers while out of the shop environment.
Responsible for turning in completed manual R/O daily for each job started/completed. Must turn in time card by end of each day for payroll reporting.
Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned.

SAFETY AND POLICY/PROCEDURE RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain and carry out the established policies, procedures and safety guidelines set forth by the company. Comply with all Workers Compensation guidelines and report all injuries immediately to your immediate supervisor. Participate in the safety committee if necessary. Be aware of potential safety violations and/or safety hazards, and report all/any to the Service Manager or Assistant Service Manager.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

Ability to listen and communicate with customers and co-workers. Must have verbal and written communication skills. Ability to follow written and oral instructions, solve problems, and operate assigned equipment. Knowledge of welding, mechanical, and electrical equipment. Knowledge of 12 volt electrical and hydraulic systems. Ability to read quotes, work orders, inspection forms and instruction sheets. Ability to perform basic math calculations. Ability to complete work orders and warranty cards.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Duties are performed throughout the inside and outside of the building(s). Employee is exposed to dirt, dust, heat, cold, noise and vibration, fumes and odors, wetness and humidity, and sometimes darkness. Employee is required to stand, walk, kneel, squat, crawl, bend, and twist. Employee may have to climb and/or lift up to and over 80 pounds frequently. Visual requirements are constant. Due to the nature of the environment, employee is exposed to potential mechanical, chemical, electrical and fire hazards on a regular basis.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Education

A high school diploma or GED is required. Combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Additional training in heavy duty truck repairs preferred.

Experience

A minimum of five years experience in heavy duty truck/engine repairs and installation is required.

Licenses or Certificates

A valid driver’s license is required. CDL and DOT medical card is mandatory if vehicle is to be driven off of dealership premises.

Appearance/Uniforms

All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance. Uniforms will be provided.
