Job summary

Cleaning Technologies Group in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a Field Service Controls Technician to install, start up, and support automated machinery at customer sites across North America. You will lead installation and startup efforts and provide on-site troubleshooting and commissioning.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree or trade cert in Electrical Engineering or 2–3 years in automation, strong PLC diagnostics, and excellent communication. Travel of 65–75% is required.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or trade school certification in Electrical Engineering, or 2–3 years of hands-on experience in automation.
  • Solid knowledge of electrical systems and PLC programming/diagnostics.
  • Strong troubleshooting instincts and ability to handle multiple projects at once.
  • Excellent communication skills—able to clearly explain technical concepts.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 65–75%, including some international trips.

Responsibilities

  • Lead installation and startup of our high-tech machines at customer facilities.
  • Travel to various customer sites to troubleshoot, repair, and commission equipment.
  • Perform electrical diagnostics and PLC troubleshooting on a wide range of automation equipment.
  • Provide remote support via phone and online tools to assist customers and fellow technicians.
  • Collaborate with engineering on machine runoffs and pre-shipment checks.
  • Train customers and junior technicians on machine operation and troubleshooting.
  • Prepare clear, detailed service reports after field visits.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by reviewing in-shop builds for potential field issues.

We’re looking for a Field Service Controls Technician to join our dynamic Service Team. In this role, you’ll be the face of our company at customer sites across North America and beyond - installing, starting up, and supporting cutting-edge automated machinery in the field.

What You’ll Be Doing

What You Bring to the Table

Physical & Work Environment
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted, and work in environments with varying temperatures and noise levels.
  • Expect hands-on work: standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and getting into tight spaces when needed.
