Job summary

Cleaning Technologies Group in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a Field Service Controls Technician to install, startup, and support our automated machinery at customer sites across North America and beyond. You will travel to customer facilities, perform electrical diagnostics and PLC troubleshooting, provide remote support, and train customers and junior technicians.

You’ll collaborate with engineering on runoffs and pre-shipment checks and prepare clear service reports.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or trade school certification in Electrical Engineering, or 2–3 years hands-on experience in automation, material handling, or machine controls.
  • Solid knowledge of electrical systems and PLC programming/diagnostics.
  • Willingness to travel 65–75%, including some international trips.

Responsibilities

  • Lead installation and startup of high‑tech machines at customer facilities.
  • Travel to customer sites to troubleshoot, repair, and commission equipment.
  • Perform electrical diagnostics and PLC troubleshooting on automation equipment.
  • Provide remote support via phone and online tools to assist customers and fellow technicians.
  • Collaborate with engineering on machine runoffs and pre‑shipment checks.
  • Train customers and junior technicians on machine operation and troubleshooting.
  • Prepare clear, detailed service reports after field visits.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by reviewing in‑shop builds for potential field issues.

We’re looking for a Field Service Controls Technician to join our dynamic Service Team. In this role, you’ll be the face of our company at customer sites across North America and beyond – installing, starting up, and supporting cutting‑edge automated machinery in the field.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead the installation and startup of our high‑tech machines at customer facilities.
  • Travel to various customer sites to troubleshoot, repair, and commission equipment.
  • Perform electrical diagnostics and PLC troubleshooting on a wide range of automation equipment.

What You Bring To The Table

  • Excellent communication skills – able to clearly explain technical concepts to a wide range of audiences.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 65–75%, including some international trips.
Physical & Work Environment
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted, and work in environments with varying temperatures and noise levels.
  • Expect hands‑on work: standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and getting into tight spaces when needed.
