Job summary

CHIRON America is seeking a Field Service CNC Engineer to install, commission, and service high-end CNC machinery at customer sites nationwide. You’ll diagnose mechanical, electrical, software, and motion-control issues, perform upgrades, and ensure optimal performance on complex systems.

You will travel nationwide, coordinate field assignments, and provide hands-on technical support while building strong customer relationships and expanding your CNC expertise.

Qualifications

  • Bring CNC troubleshooting and motion control/electrical knowledge to a field role.
  • Use precision measurement skills to verify machine geometry and tolerances.
  • Read electrical prints and technical documentation to diagnose and modify CNC systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install and commission CNC equipment at customer facilities.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex CNC systems (mechanical, electrical, software, motion-control).
  • Perform retrofits and upgrades (probes, lasers, software updates).
  • Work with automation and ancillary equipment integrated with CNC systems.
  • Read electrical prints and technical documentation to diagnose issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Install and commission CNC equipment at customer facilities, including new and relocated machines and associated equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex CNC systems, diagnosing mechanical, electrical, software, and motion-control issues.
  • Perform machine retrofits and upgrades, including probes, lasers, mist collectors, software updates, and other modifications.
  • Work with automation and ancillary equipment, including robots, enclosures, and other components integrated with CNC systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical prints and technical documentation to diagnose issues and complete repairs or modifications.
  • Use precision measurement tools such as dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, and depth gauges to evaluate and adjust machine geometry.
  • Methodically diagnose intermittent and complex equipment issues, identifying root causes and eliminating variables to restore machine performance.
  • Travel nationwide to customer sites based on business needs, independently coordinating travel and managing field assignments.
  • Provide hands-on technical support to customers, building strong relationships while getting critical equipment back up and running.
