Job summary

LaSalle Network is seeking a Field Service & Assembly Technician in Chicago to support an industrial technology manufacturer with engineering and maintenance responsibilities. You will handle on-site and remote troubleshooting, installations, and customer-facing service activities, working with cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical/electro-mechanical/engineering background, experience with electronics and electrical drawings, and the ability to travel 50–75% domestically

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field.
  • Computer literacy (Windows 11, Word/Excel/Outlook).
  • Experience using a CRM.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 50-75%.

Responsibilities

  • Discuss troubleshooting, spare parts and operation with customers over the phone.
  • Perform installation, upgrades and repairs of equipment and partner equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues as well as hardware and software control programming.
  • Provide qualification testing and training for operators and maintenance technicians.
  • Keep supervisors informed of on-site progress and issues through written reports and daily check-ins.
  • Complete Field Service Reports and Certificates of Calibration for customers.
  • Operate lab tools to run customer demonstrations and format data in PowerPoint presentations.
  • Update product manuals and technical documentation, supporting ECOs.
  • Produce spare parts kits, accessories and sub-assemblies for customer repair jobs.
  • Support parts obsolescence solutions.

LaSalle Network is hiring for a Field Service & Assembly Technician to join an industrial technology manufacturer and distributor based in Chicago. This opportunity is ideal for a technically skilled professional with a background in engineering, equipment maintenance and precision electronic assembly.

This Field Service & Assembly Technician role offers exposure to cutting-edge semiconductor process metrology systems, hands‑on technical troubleshooting and the opportunity to work cross‑functionally with U.S. and international teams. Responsibilities
  • Discuss troubleshooting, spare parts and operation with customers over the phone
  • Perform installation, upgrades and repairs of equipment and partner equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues as well as hardware and software control programming, including relay control circuits, laser optics and electronic boards
  • Provide qualification testing and training for operators and maintenance technicians, obtaining signed acceptance
  • Keep supervisors informed of on‑site progress and issues through written reports and daily check‑ins
  • Complete Field Service Reports and Certificates of Calibration for customers
  • Operate lab tools to run customer demonstrations and format data in PowerPoint presentations
  • Prepare monthly planning sheets and integrate objectives into Outlook calendar
  • Update product manuals and technical documentation, supporting ECOs
  • Produce spare parts kits, accessories and sub‑assemblies for customer repair jobs
  • Support parts obsolescence solutions
What's Needed?
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science Engineering, Electro‑Mechanical Engineering, Computer Machine Integration, Computer Programming, Software Development or related field
  • Computer literacy (Windows 11, Word/Excel/Outlook, QuickBooks)
  • Experience using a CRM
  • Ability to apply principles of electronics, electrical circuitry, engineering, physics and mathematics
  • Experience with maintenance and repair of electric and mechanical equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret electric, pneumatic and hydraulic drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics
  • Ability to troubleshoot and work independently
  • Experience using multi‑meters, oscilloscopes, deadweight testers, pneumatic calibrators, electric‑motor diagnostic equipment and related instrumentation
  • Understanding of and experience with vacuum equipment
  • Strong customer‑facing communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to articulate technical applications, processes and measurement results to internal sales and engineering teams
  • Awareness of health and safety practices in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 50‑75% of the time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks including standing, kneeling, reaching and carrying for extended periods
