Job summary

Seattle Tree Care is seeking an EH&S / Training Manager to lead safety, training, and incident management in the Seattle area. The role partners with the Director of Operations, balancing field presence with documentation and program leadership.

The position emphasizes hands-on field coaching, development of crew leaders, and practical safety improvements while maintaining reports and schedules and ensuring OSHA compliance.

Qualifications

• Strong practical tree care experience, including climbing, rigging, removals, and equipment operation.
• Demonstrated experience teaching, coaching, or developing others.
• Ability to build, organize, and manage a structured training program.
• Proficiency with computers and standard business software.
• Strong written communication skills for incident reports, SOPs, and emails.
• Working knowledge of ANSI Z133, OSHA, and Washington State L&I safety requirements.
• Experience with incident investigations or workers' compensation claims preferred.
• Certifications such as ISA Arborist, TCIA CTSP, TRAQ, EHAP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside crews in the field, demonstrating proper techniques and coaching crew leaders.
• Identify high-risk jobs and provide hands-on training to reduce risk and increase productivity.
• Design, implement, and manage STC's internal training program and certifications.
• Lead hands-on training in climbing, rigging, chainsaw use, aerial lift operation, and safety.
• Lead investigations into accidents or near-misses and track corrective actions.
• Coordinate with HR on workers' comp claims and return-to-work processes.
• Prepare clear written documentation: incident reports, training materials, and trend reports.
• Maintain Safety Manual, SOPs, and records, ensuring ANSI/OSHA compliance.
