Job summary

JR Merit, Inc. is seeking a Site Safety Specialist to support EHS programs, identify hazards, promote safe work practices, and ensure regulatory compliance on industrial construction projects in the Western US.

Travel up to 50% and alignment with project schedules are involved. Minimum qualifications include 3+ years in construction health and safety, a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, OSHA knowledge, and First Aid/CPR with OSHA 30 certification.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of construction health and safety experience or equivalent field exposure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
• OSHA CFR 1926 knowledge and state construction safety regulations.
• First Aid/CPR & OSHA 30 certifications.
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time for onsite safety support.
• Flexibility for extended workweeks, nights, weekends, or rotational schedules.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field safety observations, inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
• Develop and deliver orientations, toolbox talks, and safety training.
• Support Site-specific Safety Plans (SSSPs), JSAs, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Maintain required safety documentation and reporting; partner with teams to improve safety.
• Support workers' compensation, return-to-work coordination, and safety administration as needed.
