Job summary

Tennyson Electric Inc invites applications for a Field Safety Representative to act as a field safety partner across construction sites in California. You will plan work with teams, recognize hazards, implement controls, and maintain safety records, while coaching workers and supporting incident response.

The role requires OSHA 30, five years in field safety, valid driver’s license, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• OSHA 30‑Hour Construction certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Minimum five years of construction, maintenance, utility, electrical, or related field experience.
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Working knowledge of construction hazard recognition and hierarchy of controls.
• Ability to read and apply safety policies, project plans, JHAs, and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety platforms; able to learn new tools.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain customer/project access credentials.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, meet deadlines, and keep accurate records.
• Professional communication skills and sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine and focused field inspections to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions.
• Partner with foremen, project teams, subcontractors, and client reps to improve safety planning.
• Review and support daily JHAs, pre‑task plans, toolbox talks, and equipment inspections.
• Participate in pre‑construction planning to assess high‑risk work and controls.
• Provide new‑hire orientation, coaching, refresher training, tailgate meetings, and alerts.
• Enforce company policies and project safety requirements; initiate stop‑work for imminent hazards.
• Support Site‑Specific Safety Plans, emergency procedures, and postings.
• Observe excavation, trenching, electrical work, traffic control, lifting, and confined spaces.
• Assist with incident investigations by gathering facts, photos, and statements.
• Coordinate injury response and return‑to‑work activities as directed by Safety Manager.
• Maintain organized safety records, inspection reports, and training rosters.
• Monitor PPE use and identify deficiencies in tools, vehicles, or procedures.
• Escalate unresolved safety concerns and provide status updates to management.
• Travel between active projects and support startups, training, and audits.
