Job summary

Henkels & McCoy, Inc. is seeking an experienced EHS/Safety professional in Deer Park, TX to lead site safety programs across heavy utility construction projects.

You will promote safety ownership, conduct regular inspections, and mentor field teams on daily briefs and safe work practices. The role emphasizes incident investigation, OSHA compliance, and coordination with customers and subcontractors to uphold safety standards on large-scale projects.

Qualifications

• Gas distribution, Water distribution, Substation, and Utility Construction experienced preferred.
• Prepare & Review Site specific Safety Plans/Lift Plans.
• Ability to manage EHS effort for large projects with multiple subcontractors.
• Conduct and document routine jobsite safety inspections.
• Demonstrated competencies in excavation, rigging practices, confined spaces, scaffolding and fall protection.
• OSHA 500/510 certification preferred.
• Strong Knowledge of OSHA 1926 construction and 1910 general industry standards.
• Experienced in accident investigation techniques and root cause analysis.
• CPR Certification preferred.
• Strong knowledge in underground damage prevention.
• Familiarization with PSEG, Elizabethtown Gas, and New Jersey American Water preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Promote safety ownership with field management with Area Managers.
• Perform safety visits/inspections weekly, monthly, quarterly per plan.
• Provide assistance and technical expertise in safety program implementation.
• Train and mentor staff on Daily Job Briefings and paperwork.
• Educate staff on safety philosophies and safe work practices.
• Deploy oversight processes for safety inspecting, training and reporting.
• Participate in pre-bid/pre-construction safety planning.
• Lead development of Activity Hazard Analysis, Daily Job Briefings, and Safety Action Plans.
• Track corrective actions and review incident reports for timely completion.
• Investigate OSHA recordables and High Loss Potential incidents.
• Interface with customers and vendors on safety issues.
