Job summary

Henkels & McCoy in Deer Park, Texas seeks an experienced Safety professional to lead EHS efforts across utility construction projects. The role emphasizes safety ownership, site inspections, training, and incident investigations to protect crews and assets.

You will collaborate with Area Managers to promote compliance, develop activity hazard analyses and safety plans, and ensure corrective actions are completed promptly. Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and field leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• Gas distribution/water distribution/substation/utility construction experience preferred.
• Prepare & review site safety and lift plans.
• Ability to manage EHS for large projects with multiple subcontractors.
• Conduct and document routine jobsite safety inspections.
• Proficient in excavation, rigging, confined spaces, scaffolding and fall protection.
• OSHA 500/510 certification preferred.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA 1926/1910 standards.
• Experience in accident investigation techniques and root cause analysis.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Underground damage prevention knowledge.
• Bilingual preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with PSEG, Elizabethtown Gas, and New Jersey American Water preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Promote safety ownership with field management in collaboration with Area Managers.
• Perform weekly, monthly and quarterly safety visits/inspections as per region plan.
• Provide assistance and technical expertise in implementing safety programs.
• Provide training and mentorship on daily job briefs and safety paperwork.
• Deploy oversight processes ensuring integrity of safety inspecting, training and reporting procedures.
• Participate in pre-bid and pre-construction safety planning and equipment needs reviews.
• Lead development of Activity Hazard Analysis, Daily Job Briefings, Work Site Observation Reports and Safety Action Plans.
• Track corrective actions, review incident reports, and investigate OSHA recordables.
