Job summary

Fermi America seeks a Safety Manager to lead field safety operations at the Matador power plant construction site in Texas. The role focuses on an incident- and injury-free culture for Fermi personnel, contractors, and subcontractors, reporting to the Director of HSSE.

It is a hands-on, field-based leadership position managing day-to-day safety and compliance. The Safety Manager supervises Safety Coordinators, conducts site walks and audits, leads investigations, reviews contractor safety plans,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of construction safety experience, with 5+ years in leadership on large industrial projects.
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA 1926 (construction) standards and applicable Texas regulations.
• Demonstrated experience leading a team of safety professionals in a field environment.
• Strong incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and hold accountable at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve the site safety program, ensuring OSHA and owner standards are met.
• Supervise field Safety Coordinators; manage coverage and consistency across the site.
• Conduct daily site walks, inspections, and audits; verify hazard controls and safe work practices.
• Lead incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions; manage OSHA reporting.
• Review contractor safety plans and pre-task planning; ensure contractor oversight.
• Deliver site safety orientation, toolbox talks, and required training; document attendance.
• Maintain emergency preparedness, drills, and medical response plans with operations.
• Track safety metrics and report trends/risks to HSSE leadership.
