Job summary

Hunter Environmental in Norwood, MA is seeking an experienced Safety Officer to lead on-site safety for active environmental construction and snow removal projects. You will stop unsafe work, plan high-hazard tasks, and keep rigorous records for OSHA, insurers, and MBTA.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in construction safety, OSHA 30, and strong field communication skills. A Bachelor’s in a safety-related field or equivalent is required, with Fire Prevention Program Manager certification

Qualifications

• Five+ years in construction safety (heavy civil/rail a plus).
• BS degree or equivalent field experience in safety-related area.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required; OSHA 500 preferred.
• Competent person designations in excavation/fall protection/CS allowed.
• Fire Prevention Program Manager certification desirable.
• Strong field presence with documentation and incident handling.

Responsibilities

• Keep crews safe on active jobs; stop unsafe work and explain why.
• Plan and control high-hazard work with permits and plans.
• Maintain OSHA records, reports, and client deliverables on time.
• Train and track new hires; conduct toolbox talks weekly.
• Investigate incidents and close corrective actions.
• Coordinate workers' comp intake and return-to-work processes.
