Job summary

Blue Streak Consultants is seeking a Safety Manager to lead field safety across Northeast Ohio’s highway, bridge, paving, and utility projects. You will partner with superintendents and craft workers to implement safety programs, conduct inspections, and drive a culture where near-miss reporting and safe work are the norm.

You will mentor foremen on safety conversations, manage incident investigations, and coordinate with HR on workers’ compensation and return-to-work programs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction safety experience, preferably in heavy/highway, bridge, paving, or underground utility construction.
• OSHA 500 (Construction) authorized trainer, or OSHA 30-Hour Construction with willingness to obtain OSHA 500.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1926 standards, especially Subparts P (Excavations), M (Fall Protection), CC (Cranes), and MUTCD requirements.
• Experience conducting incident investigations and maintaining OSHA recordkeeping.
• Ability to communicate credibly with craft workers, foremen, and executives alike.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel daily to jobsites across Northeast Ohio.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and occasional early mornings, nights, or weekends as project schedules require.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve the safety program for projects.
• Maintain written safety policies, procedures, and site-specific safety plans.
• Prepare safety submittals and safety plans for bids and contracts.
• Conduct regular jobsite inspections and audits and drive timely corrective action.
• Provide hands-on guidance on high-hazard work and safety requirements.
• Review JHAs and pre-task plans with crews before work begins.
• Lead safety training and toolbox talks for crews and foremen.
• Investigate incidents, injuries, and near-misses and implement preventive measures.
• Maintain OSHA logs and required recordkeeping.
• Coordinate with HR on workers' compensation and return-to-work programs.
