Description

Summary: Plans, implements and leads Caldwell’s safety program to ensure safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment for employees by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Plans and implements programs to train and mentor employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, equipment, and other materials.
  • Prepares studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
  • Inspects remote job sites to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
  • Provides guidance and/or leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for Caldwell’s use in hearings, lawsuits, and investigations.
  • Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills: Perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Spreadsheet software and PowerPoint, Word Processing software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid State Drivers License.

Other Desired Skills and Abilities: CPR/First Aid, authorized OSHA OTI Trainer (construction and/or general industry)

Other Qualifications: Must be able to meet a flexible travel schedule up to 80%.
