Purpose
The Traveling Safety Specialist plays a critical role in promoting and maintaining a culture of safety on Electrical Division job sites across multiple states. Under the guidance of the Safety Manager, this entry-level position is responsible for supporting all aspects of safety performance, compliance, and reporting. This role requires a working knowledge of NFPA/OSHA regulations and Knobelsdorff safety protocols to assist General Superintendents, Construction Managers, and Project Teams in executing projects safely and efficiently. As a 100% travel-based position, the Safety Specialist will work remotely, gaining valuable field experience and developing into a strategic safety professional.

Responsibilities
- Work alongside and advise/mentor the project team on Knobelsdorff's safety policies and procedures.
- Provide education and training to the project team, as needed.
- Oversee and audit project-level safety documentation, adhering to Knobelsdorff standards.
- Maintain knowledge of Federal, State, and OSHA Regulations.
- Conduct safety audits and incident investigations.
- Partner with project teams on root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Supervise employee adherence to safety rules and regulations, taking appropriate action for violations.
- Create, prepare, and coordinate safety statistics and trip reports for compliance.
- Implement risk assessment procedures and mitigation strategies.
- Assist field personnel with mitigation strategies for EHS/OHS challenges.
- Attend pre-work “Tailgate” meetings to discuss hazards, JHA completion, and best practices, providing coaching and mentorship.
- Assist with pre-construction safety preparations.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Be willing to travel and work occasionally in evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications

- Availability to travel extensively (up to 100%) within regional states, including overnight stays.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- First Aid/CPR/AED/Fall Protection Competent Person Certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- OSHA 30 Construction DOT card within the last 5 years or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Preferably one year of experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role.
- Experience in the electrical industry and knowledge of NFPA 70, 70E, and 70B is preferred.
- Safety certifications (GSP, CSP, ASP, CHST) are desirable but not required.
- Fluent bilingual skills, with Spanish preferred.
- Experience with project and construction field administration.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical construction and systems.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to pass drug screening and background checks.
- Willingness to learn.
- An associate’s degree in safety or construction management is a plus.
- Certifications like MEWP, Forklift, and Skid steer training or willingness to obtain them.
- OSHA 510, 511, 501, 500 certifications are a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, walk, and sit for long periods.
- Capability to work in extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs.
