Job summary

Actalent in Longwood, FL is seeking a Rodman to support the survey crew with boundary, topographic, construction, and ALTA surveys. You will set up and operate surveying equipment, hold rods and targets, place stakes, and help maintain clear survey lines outdoors.

This hands-on role offers learning opportunities in land surveying practices, field data collection, safety, and teamwork. The position is contract to hire, onsite in Longwood, with pay between $18 and $20 per hour and a benefits

Qualifications

• Outdoor work experience in varying weather and terrain.
• Ability to work effectively as a field crew member.
• Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic.
• Willingness to learn surveying practices and safety rules.
• Basic math skills to support measurements and data recording.
• Attention to detail when holding rods, placing stakes, and noting data.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Survey Crew Chief with boundary, topographic, construction, and ALTA surveys.
• Carry, set up, and maintain surveying equipment including GPS, total stations, prisms, rods, and levels.
• Hold survey rods and targets accurately during measurements for precise data.
• Set stakes, hubs, markers, and control points to establish layouts.
• Clear brush and obstacles to maintain survey lines in various terrains.
• Record field notes and verify collected data for completeness and accuracy.
• Load, unload, and organize survey equipment and supplies at job sites.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of surveying equipment and vehicles.
• Follow safety procedures while working near roadways and construction sites.
• Work outdoors in varying weather and terrain while staying productive.
• Collaborate with the survey crew as a reliable team member.
