Job summary

Planted Solar seeks a Field Robotics Engineer to ensure the reliability and uptime of robotic installation machines at utility-scale solar projects. You will lead data collection, diagnose issues, train operators, and coordinate with multiple teams to deliver new features on schedule.

This full-time, on-site role in Oakland, CA offers stock options and benefits, with 2–5+ years of experience preferred. Travel up to 75% and collaboration with external partners are core aspects of the role.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in field robotics or related installation roles.
• Willingness to travel up to 75% with weeklong stays.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for diagnosing issues in dynamic environments.
• Ability to operate in fast-paced startup settings and stay adaptable.
• Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Located in SF Bay Area or willing to relocate, and able to be on-site up to 5 days per week.
• Experience with construction equipment operation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliability and uptime of deployed robotic systems in the field.
• Lead data collection, testing, and validation to improve performance.
• Operate, maintain, and enhance field testing tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to prioritize and deliver updates.
• Provide clear technical documentation and training procedures.
• Deliver training to external partners for safe use of the robots.
• Develop detailed project schedules reflecting field performance and milestones.
• Represent the company in engagements with external partners and customers.
