Job summary

Amazon Robotics in North Reading seeks a Systems Engineer to lead end-to-end deployment of industrial automation across North America stores. You will oversee installation, commissioning, and integration of robotics and packaging technologies with cross-functional teams and extensive travel.

The role requires strong field‑based technical skills, project leadership, and the ability to translate complex requirements into actionable deployment plans. Relocation to major hubs may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• 1+ year's experience with technical drawings and/or reading CAD models (mechanical and electrical).
• 1+ year's experience working on mechanical, electrical, IT networked, or software systems.
• Understanding of data collection, reporting processes, and ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Ability to read technical drawings and/or CAD models to resolve on-site clash issues using 3D clash detection reports.
• Ability to troubleshoot robotics systems to resolve escalations including quality hand-off, live order testing, site acceptance testing, operational readiness testing, monitoring robotics system performance, etc.
• Ability to read and develop technical documentation and process instructions.
• Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work primarily in a construction or warehouse environment in a field-based role and travel extensively across the US and potentially internationally.

Responsibilities

• Support and guide installation of robotics, packaging and sortation technologies at Amazon fulfillment centers.
• Develop detailed knowledge of the operation of robotic systems and guide installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of these systems both on site and remotely.
• Manage technical ambiguity around integration of work cells in fulfillment centers.
• Collaborate with hardware engineering, technical program managers, product managers, and internal customers including site maintenance and operations teams.
• Travel to project sites and collaborate both virtually and in person to ensure all business stakeholders are aligned on program status.
• Manage day-to-day project scheduling and budget management.
• Work on continuous improvement activities to improve the projects in your space.
• Generate and implement continuous improvement ideas around work-scopes.
• Lead teams of other engineers on projects.
