Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Field Inspector to support transportation construction projects across a range of locations including IL. The role involves direct supervision by senior inspectors, reviewing contractor work, and ensuring compliance with plans and quality control procedures.

The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel nationally/internationally as project demands.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• 0 years of experience; equivalent additional directly related experience considered in lieu of degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials, and all issues concerning the construction of a project under direct supervision.
• Determine acceptability of day-to-day work by the contractor; review daily reports and verify QC procedures.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to contract and measure quantities of materials placed.
• May perform sampling and in-place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt concrete pavement.
