Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Field Inspector to support our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection team across multiple project locations in the United States. You will perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision.

The role requires reading, interpreting and explaining construction plans, contract provisions and specifications.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Basic arithmetic skills are required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Able to quickly learn new technologies and applications.
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
• Ability to read and understand construction plans, drawings, contracts and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision.
• Review contractor day-to-day reports and verify QC procedures and material testing per contract.
• May perform sampling and in-place testing of soils, aggregate base, concrete and asphalt pavement.
