Job summary

Base is seeking a Field Reliability Engineer to own the reliability picture for our deployed hardware fleet. You will monitor fleet health, decide when to pull or swap hardware, triage returns, and track failure rates to drive design and supplier decisions.

This role covers in-house designed and supplier-made parts and is highly learnable with strong fundamentals at the core. You will build dashboards with Grafana, SQL/BigQuery, and Python to monitor health, perform Pareto analyses, and guide

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical/computer/mechatronics engineering or related field.
• Strong electrical engineering fundamentals.
• Experience building and reading dashboards with Grafana, SQL/BigQuery, and Python.
• Experience with systems testing and reliability in battery energy storage or similar electromechanical systems.
• Familiarity with failure analysis techniques and materials characterization.

Responsibilities

• Root Cause Analysis of field failures and non-conformances to determine root cause.
• Fleet Health Monitoring using dashboards to assess deployed hardware health and detect reliability trends.
• Track failure rates and produce Pareto charts to inform design and supplier decisions.
• Make field dispatch or swap decisions and drive closure.
• Triage hardware returns, characterize failure, and decide if escalation is needed.
• Develop tests to recreate field failures in the lab.
• Recommend design or supplier corrective actions and track implementation.
• Maintain detailed records of failure analyses and reliability assessments.
