Job summary

GCI is seeking an entry-level Wireless RF Technician Trainee in Alaska to support senior technicians with basic installations, testing, and site maintenance. You will gain hands-on experience with RF transmission lines, antennas, and related equipment, while learning to use test tools and software in a dynamic field setting.

With supervision, you’ll complete tower climbing training and participate in site audits, documentation, and safety practices.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must complete and remain a certified tower climber in this role.
• Associates Degree in electronics, telecommunications, trade school or equivalent training.
• Six months’ telecommunications, technical, or customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, adjustment, advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of Wireless RF transmission lines and antennas.
• Operate test equipment to perform corrective tasks on transmission towers and related systems.
• Support RF Engineers in field optimization projects and pre/post optimization adjustments.
• Update daily work and safety logs; maintain cell site and tower documentation; coordinate with management and regulatory parties.
• Be able to travel to various locations across Alaska and work at heights.
