Job summary

Sperry Rail, Inc. in Chicago, IL, is recruiting for a Certified Operator Trainee to join our Rail Flaw Detection program. This field-based role requires extensive travel across eastern or western US during training and beyond.

You will undergo paid training at the Sperry School of Rail Flaw Detection and, upon certification, advance to operating a testing platform or leading a crew while continuing field assignments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to multitask and work with tools/equipment.
• Willingness to travel and work field-based roles.

Responsibilities

• Attend and complete training at Sperry School of Rail Flaw Detection.
• Learn rail detection methods across Short Line and Class I railways.
• Achieve ultrasonic testing certification and apply skills in the field.
• Work as part of a crew and develop leadership to lead a team.
• Gain knowledge of Sperry’s diagnostic technologies and interfaces.
• Travel to multiple job sites for extended periods (3–4 months).
