Job summary
The Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security seeks a Nuclear Safety Health Physics Technician I to conduct environmental sampling at nuclear facilities and contaminated sites, perform radiological surveys and inspections, and participate in radiological emergency response operations throughout Illinois.
The position involves field duties with travel, availability for emergency callback, and overnight stays as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree with major coursework in physics, chemistry, engineering, mathematics, or nuclear sciences.
- 1 year of professional experience in health physics, radiochemistry, environmental safety, or related field.
- Ability to travel and work overnight stays; valid driver's license required.
- Hazwoper certification at technician level and pass CVSA Level VI Inspection certification.
