Job summary

Illuminate USA, based in Columbus, Ohio, is hiring a Field Quality Technician to provide on-site customer support, monitor system performance, and conduct site inspections to ensure PV module reliability.

You will perform field diagnostics (IV curve tracing, IR imaging, insulation testing), coordinate repairs, document investigations, and interact with customers professionally while traveling to client sites.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy, or related field preferred.
• 2–5 years of experience in PV field service, quality, or O&M.

Job Summary:

We are seekingField Quality Techniciansto join ournewfactoryin Columbus, Ohio.This roleis responsible forprovidingon-site customer support,systemperformance monitoring, site inspection and repair, and field failure diagnostics to ensure PV module reliability andhigh levelsofcustomer satisfaction.

KeyResponsibilities:

Customer Operation Support

• Assistcustomers with on-sitetechnical support,includingtroubleshooting and corrective actionsrequired.
• Support warranty claims byidentifyingwarranty relatedissues and preparingaccuratetechnical documentation and field evidence.
• Communicate field issues, investigation results, and customer feedback to factory quality and engineering teamsin a timely manner.

Field Monitoringand Diagnostics

• MonitorPVsystem performance using site operational data, I–V curve tracing, thermal imaging inspections, and other field diagnostics tests.
• Identifydegradation trends and early indicators of failure, including hotspots, potential induced degradation (PID), and abnormal power loss.
• Analyze performance metrics such as Performance Ratio (PR) and specific yield to supporttimelycorrective and preventive actions.

Site Inspection & Repair

• Conduct structured site inspections using approved checklists and sampling plans.
• Inspect mechanical installation,includingclamping, torque, trackerinteraction.
• Perform minor field repairs or coordinate module replacement when necessary.
• Ensure all workcomplies withsite EHS and electrical safetyrequirements.

Field Failure Diagnostics

• Perform root cause diagnostics using:

• IV curve analysis

• Insulation resistance testing

• Thermal imaging

• Visual and connector inspections

• Identifyfailure modes and correlate to manufacturing,logistics, or site conditions.
• Prepare detailed investigation and RCA(Root Cause Analysis)reports with photos and test results.
• Recommend corrective and preventive actions to quality and engineering teams.

Qualifications:

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in electricalengineering, renewable energy, orarelated field preferred.
• 2–5 yearsofexperience in PV field service, quality, or O&M(Operation & Maintenance).
• Strong understanding of PV systems, modules, and site safety requirements.
• Willingness to travelfrequentlyto customer sites.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Professionalcustomer-facing communicationskills.
• Ability to work independently in field environments.
• Proficiencywith field diagnostic tools, includingIV tracer, IR camera, and insulationtester.
