Job summary

Sterling Industrial in Evansville, IN, seeks a qualified Welder Inspector with a current CWI to lead quality control during plant outages. You will interpret AWS, ASME and NBIC codes, read blueprints, and direct boilermakers and steamfitters on repair plans.

Responsibilities include coordinating with union crafts, ensuring welding traceability, and delivering inspection reports to customers and regulators. Strong communication and computer skills are required, along with the ability to work 24/7

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office - Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining positive attitude.
• Ability to work independently and to complete assignments within given instructions and routines.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification.

Responsibilities

• Interpreting AWS, ASME, NBIC codes and applying them to field applications.
• Knowledge and understanding of blue print reading.
• Performing inspections of boilers, pressure vessels, power piping and structural steel.
• Giving weld tests to crafts people for certifications.
• Updating welder qualification records.
• Constructing repair plans.
• Directing boilermakers and steamfitters in repair plans and welding.
• Coordinating with union crafts and plant personnel during outages.
• Providing traceability of all welding during repairs.
• Implementing and managing quality standards over union crafts during outages.
• Staying on call for unscheduled outages 24/7.
• Knowledge of NDE processes (UT, PAUT, MT, PT, VT).
• Maintaining quotes and billing from third-party inspection companies.
• Maintaining good customer relationships.
• Building job packages and inspection reports for turnover to customers and regulatory bodies.
