Job description

Looking for an opportunity to make a difference? Then you may have found your next career move. We’re seeking a Field Quality Control Technician to join our team and help connect America. This role involves leading efforts to identify and address field quality deficiencies, resulting in fewer damages.

What you’ll do…

  1. Collaborate with operations supervisors, managers, and Field Check partners to select audits that prevent potential damages.
  2. Perform field audits to verify accuracy of marks and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and contractual obligations.
  3. Conduct root cause analysis on quality failures.
  4. Complete all required forms and documents for audits and investigations, and communicate findings with quality assurance and operations management.
  5. Correct field risk findings and coach/mentor technicians.
  6. Perform quality assurance ride-alongs with field technicians upon request.
  7. Provide ongoing feedback to Field Check partners to improve quality and reduce damages.
  8. Provide witness testimony in small claims and litigated cases when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of locating experience and/or equivalent.
  • Ability to troubleshoot difficult locates and interpret utility plats proficiently.
  • Proficient in using various locating equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or Google Suite.
  • Minimum of 5 years investigation experience.

Workplace Environment and Physical Demands:

Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods, with repetitive or fine hand movements. Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and precipitation, often in rugged terrain such as back easements, rural locations, and active construction sites. Noise levels may range from moderate to loud. Extensive driving and long periods away from home may be required.
