Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an On-Call Solid Waste (landfill) and Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) Construction Quality Assurance Engineering Technician to join our Civil, Ground Engineering & Materials team in Michigan. Preferred home offices: Holland, Lansing, Bay City, or Novi.

You will conduct landfill and CCR CQA observation, monitoring, and testing for earthen and geosynthetic containment systems. Responsibilities include field sampling, geosynthetics testing, documentation, and coordination with

Qualifications

Requires high school diploma or GED.
Geosynthetics Certification Institute-ICP certification or ability to obtain.
MDOT Construction Materials Testing certifications or ability to obtain.
Valid U.S. driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Travel, including extended assignments, is required.

Responsibilities

Field monitoring, testing, and sampling of soil and aggregate materials.
Use of a nuclear gauge and drive cylinder for soil density testing.
Geosynthetics monitoring and testing.
General construction observation and documentation.
Interpreting construction documents to confirm project conformance with plans.
Interact with contractors and owners to resolve construction issues.
Generate complete, accurate documentation using electronic systems and field notebooks.
Assist with additional field activities as needed (field characterization, stormwater sampling, groundwater sampling).
Participate in daily safety meetings.
