Job summary

Mercury Insurance is seeking a Field Adjuster II to investigate, evaluate, and settle homeowners’ claims with moderate complexity. The role requires travel to loss sites and also handling virtual claims using imagery and video tools.

You will communicate with insureds, coordinate inspections, and prepare detailed damage estimates to resolve claims efficiently. The position offers formal training, potential licensing requirements, and advancement within the Property Claims team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to obtain state property claims licensing, as required.
• Must complete formal property claims training program (in person/virtual).
• Experience using estimating software like Xactimate.
• Experience in property claims, customer service, construction, restoration, or mitigation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; bilingualism or military experience a plus.
• 3–5+ years of industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve homeowners claims of moderate complexity promptly and accurately.
• Perform field inspections at least 50% of time; travel to customers’ homes; prepare detailed estimates.
• Handle virtual claims using imagery and video tech to collaborate with vendors and insureds.
• Assess coverage by comparing facts with policy; extend/deny as appropriate.
• Establish reserves within authority and negotiate settlements; escalate beyond limits.
• Communicate with insureds promptly to ensure satisfaction and comply with regulations.
• Manage workload and monitor progress and expenses; guide independent adjusters when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
