Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to assist Project Managers and ensure installation aligns with plans and specs. You will review drawings, coordinate meetings, and publish weekly progress reports on assigned projects.

The role emphasizes field coordination, schedule updates, bidding assistance, and adherence to OSHA safety rules. A bachelor’s in CM or related field is preferred, with 1+ year GC experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, or equivalent.
• 1+ year experience with a commercial general contractor or internship preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication; expresses ideas clearly.
• Proficiency in Word and Excel.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety requirements.
• Willingness to adapt plans and cooperate with team.
• Scheduling knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists Project Managers to ensure work meets plans and specifications.
• Reviews shop drawings and submittals for consistency.
• Communicates inconsistencies to the architect.
• Publishes weekly progress reports and updates project schedules.
• Assists in bidding and developing scope for trade contractors.
• Coordinates testing and inspections per specifications.
• Maintains project logs and documentation.
• Ensures safety policies are followed on site.
