Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to support Project Managers in ensuring that work on the project meets plans and specifications. This position requires relocation to the project site.

You will review plans and shop drawings, coordinate with the architect and subcontractors, maintain schedules and logs, and assist in bidding and scope development. A bachelor's degree in construction management and solid communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• 1+ year experience with a commercial general contractor or internship preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to express ideas clearly in writing.
• Proficiency in Word and Excel.
• Willingness to adapt plans and work methods to meet goals.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Assists Project Managers to ensure work installed meets plan and specification requirements.
• Reviews shop drawings and submittals for compliance.
• Maintains logs and progress reports; updates project schedules as needed.
• Coordinates with superintendent on shop drawings, milestones, and material lists.
• Supports bidding and development of scope of work for trade contractors.
• Ensures safety procedures are followed and communicates any unsafe activities.
