Job summary

Layton Construction seeks a Project Engineer to support Project Managers in ensuring installed work meets plans and specifications on a national project. Relocation to the project site is required; the location of the project is not reflected in the candidate’s current area.

You will review shop drawings, coordinate with architects and subcontractors, prepare schedules, publish progress reports, and assist with bids while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field.
• 1+ year of experience with a commercial general contractor or internship preferred.
• Good written and oral communication; clear and effective expression.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.
• Willingness to modify plans and actions to meet goals.
• Desire to quickly learn new job-related information.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers to ensure work meets plans and specifications.
• Review plans, shop drawings, and submittals for value and constructability; communicate with architect on inconsistencies.
• Suggest labor and cost-saving methods for project efficiency.
• Attend and document project team meetings; distribute minutes.
• Publish weekly progress reports and manage information flow required for construction.
• Update project schedules and monitor milestones.
• Assist in bidding and in developing scope of work for trade contractors.
• Coordinate readiness for shop drawings, samples, and material lists; ensure approvals.
