Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking an experienced Project Engineer II in McAllen, TX to coordinate with project teams, review plans, and manage field coordination issues with professionalism and confidentiality.

Responsibilities include interpreting plans for subs, maintaining quality/testing processes, permits, and managing contract documents while mentoring field engineers and ensuring safety compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and crafts.
• Implement the pre-construction quality plan and manage testing and inspection processes.
• Obtain and maintain construction permits; manage fee payments and recurring expenses.
• Develop and maintain Material Tracking List, Project Test and Inspection Listing, Concrete Placement Log, and Non-Conformance Report.
• Manage, create, and distribute contract documents; establish handling procedures for electronic documents (RFIs, correspondence).
• Manage submittals: set up register, obtain approvals, prepare transmittal forms, coordinate packaging, review and processing.
• Expedite submittals to align with project schedule; communicate submittal process details to subcontractors and suppliers.
• Incorporate processes for project closeout; post revisions to as-built documents.
• Mentor, manage, and evaluate field engineers; determine alternative work methods as needed.
• Coordinate safety and compliance for all team members; maintain schedule of timelines and ensure completion.
