Job summary

The Wyoming Department of Corrections seeks a Probation and Parole Officer in the Gillette Field Service Office to supervise and plan for probationers and parolees. You will assess risks, develop case plans, and coordinate with agencies to support rehabilitation and public safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Counseling, Sociology, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or Administration of Justice, with progressive work experience in Probation and Parole.
• Experience in case management practices, risk/need assessments, cognitive skills group facilitation, interpersonal communication, investigations, report writing, and behavioral change concepts.

Responsibilities

• Utilize validated risk and needs assessments to determine supervision levels and develop individual case plans.
• Collaborate with government and private entities to enhance case management and offender outcomes.
• Identify motivators of change via motivational interviewing to support case plan development.
• Provide intervention, incentives, and sanctions to achieve desired behaviors.
• Maintain documentation of all case management activities in a case management system.
• Visit clients in office, home, or other locations to verify compliance and support positive behavior.
• Supervise a caseload of adult probationers and parolees across offenses and risk levels.
• Write reports to the Parole Board, Courts, or stakeholders with analysis and recommendations.
• Coordinate with the Prison Division for reentry planning and guidance.
