Job summary

Idaho Department of Correction in Twin Falls is seeking a Probation and Parole Officer to supervise adults under supervision. The role blends counseling, case management and law enforcement to promote community safety and support behavioral change.

You will conduct client interviews, design and monitor case plans, and document case reports while coordinating with treatment providers and partners in the criminal justice system. POST standards and a physical readiness test are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of behavioral science fundamentals (12 college credits or internship).
• Knowledge of criminal justice concepts or experience in related field.
• Ability to identify social/human science resources to meet client needs.
• Basic computer operations: data entry, retrieval and storage.
• Experience writing detailed reports (college courses or internships).
• Experience managing a caseload and prioritizing tasks.
• Willingness to work with individuals with criminal backgrounds.
• Meet POST Academy entrance requirements for Correctional Officers.
• Ability to pass an aptitude test.

Responsibilities

• Counsel clients on problems including substance abuse, finances, relationships, employment, education, and legal issues.
• Design and monitor case plans and track client progress.
• Engage in effective interventions with clients.
• Prepare and write reports for violations, pre/post-sentencing, and court orders.
• Investigate client behaviors, employment status, residence, and transfers.
• Arrest probationers/parolees, conduct searches, and secure evidence.
• Conduct home visits and liaise with treatment providers and criminal justice partners.
