Job summary
The Louisiana Department of Conservation & Energy is seeking a Petroleum Scientist 1–3 to perform highly technical inspections and enforcement work across the southeastern to statewide area. The role requires travel, field operations, and occasional home-based reporting from a primary residence in Louisiana.
Responsibilities include inspections of hazardous waste injection wells, reviewing permits, and generating official investigation reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a geoscience field or engineering is required.
- Willingness to travel statewide and perform field inspections.
- Experience preparing detailed investigation and inspection reports.
Responsibilities
- Thoroughly inspects and monitors injection wells and related facilities.
- Prepares and reviews field investigation reports for official records.
- Reviews permits and safety precautions for drilling/operation activities.
- Provides technical assistance on State and Federal laws and regulations.
- Mentors lower level staff when requested and supports field investigations.
- Performs quarterly compliance reviews of UIC testing schedules and issues notices as required.
