Job summary

The State of Connecticut, Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) seeks an Environmental Protection Operations Supervisor to lead field operations across the State Park Division. The role requires coordinating with partners, managing staff, and ensuring safe, compliant operations in parks, forests, and waterways.

The position is full-time, on-site throughout CT with regular travel and on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of experience in operation, development, and maintenance of natural resources programs and facilities.
• College training in civil engineering or natural resources management may substitute for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half year of experience to a maximum of four years for a Bachelor's degree.
• A Master's degree in civil engineering or natural resources management may be substituted for one additional year of the General Experience.

Responsibilities

• Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews the work of staff.
• Provides staff training and assistance.
• Conducts performance evaluations.
• Determines priorities and plans area work.
• Establishes and maintains area procedures.
• Develops or makes recommendations on the development of policies and standards.
• Acts as liaison with other operating units, agencies and outside officials regarding policies and procedures.
• Prepares reports and correspondence including reports on use and condition of facilities.
• Supervises development and maintenance projects on state-owned facilities and land including parks, forests, wildlife management areas, recreation facilities and hatcheries.
• Analyzes maintenance operations and programs and recommends changes.
• Coordinates utilization of equipment and personnel.
• Oversees special programs.
• Acts as a department representative.
• May assist in preparation of land acquisition, use and development plans.
