Job summary

Indie Campers is seeking an Operations Manager in Rutherford, NJ to lead 4–5 depots and 300–450 vehicles. You will manage depot teams, ensure on-time vehicle readiness, and drive performance using KPIs while traveling frequently between locations.

The role requires hands-on leadership, a track record of cost control, staffing, and process improvement, with a focus on safety and compliance across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years in hands-on operations across mobility, rent-a-car, logistics or similar.
• 2–3 years leading teams across multiple locations or a high-volume site.
• Experience managing labor, overtime, costs, scheduling and budgets.
• Fluent English with strong communication and stakeholder skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead performance across 4–5 depots delivering service, productivity, quality and cost targets.
• Coach and develop Operations Supervisors and depot teams with clear expectations.
• Ensure vehicles are ready, safe, clean, and available for on-time check-ins/check-outs.
• Monitor KPIs, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions.
• Manage labor, overtime, scheduling, productivity, and operating expenses within budget.
• Coordinate workforce coverage across locations during peaks.
• Ensure SOPs, safety standards, compliance, and people practices are followed.
• Resolve escalated issues and prevent recurrence.
• Implement new processes and district initiatives; report risks to the District Manager.
• Visit each depot weekly or fortnightly and perform at least one frontline shift per month.
• Serve as first escalation when Supervisors cannot resolve issues.
• Maintain availability during weekends/holidays; Thursday-to-Monday peak period.
