Job summary

Syracuse Utilities Inc. is seeking a Field Operations Supervisor to oversee daily utility and civil construction crews in Brewerton, NY. You’ll coordinate assignments, monitor safety, and ensure timely project execution in line with regulatory and client expectations.

You will train staff, conduct inspections, respond to field incidents, and collaborate with contractors and internal departments to maintain high standards of quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree preferred in construction-related field.
• 3+ years of utility operations or civil labor experience preferred.
• Knowledge of utility infrastructure and equipment operation.
• Understanding of OSHA regulations and safety practices.
• Strong leadership, communication, and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to read plans, maps, and technical documents.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising utility and civil labor crews performing construction, maintenance, repair, and restoration.
• Coordinate daily crew assignments, materials, and equipment; monitor productivity and safety.
• Conduct field inspections to verify work quality and safety compliance.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate staff; participate in safety meetings and OSHA requirements.
• Coordinate field responses to issues, emergencies, and service disruptions.
• Collaborate with contractors, municipal agencies, and internal teams.
• Assist with project planning, work orders, and budget tracking; ensure asset safety.
